Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (HST) is an American real estate investment trust (REIT). It was founded in the year 1993 as a spin-off of Marriott Corporation. The company underwent several name changes since its inception and renamed itself Host International Company in 1968. In 1982, Host International Company became a part of the Marriott Corporation. In 1993, Marriott divided its business operations between two entities, one of which was Host Marriott. In 2006, this company divested its non-hotel businesses and reorganized as a REIT, thereby adopting its current name. Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. is headquartered in North Bethesda, Maryland, United States. Host Hotels & Resorts shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange the ticker symbol of HST. In 2020, HST stocks transferred to the NASDAQ Stock Exchange while retaining the company’s previous ticker. HST stocks are included as a component in the S&P 500 stock market index.
As of 2020, Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. stood as the largest lodging real estate investment trust in the United States. HST is also one of the largest owners of upscale and luxury hotels. The company owned 80 consolidated hotels and 47,000 rooms worldwide. Its portfolio holds properties across the United States, including Denver, San Francisco, Washington DC, Nashville, San Diego, New York, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Atlanta, Seattle, Miami and West Hollywood. The company also has properties in several key locations around the globe, namely Italy, Hawaii, and Rio de Janeiro.
