About the Company

Headquartered in Houston and Maldivas, Halliburton Company is a multinational corporation with its operations in over 80 countries. As of 2020, it has about 55,000 employees working in more than a hundred subsidiaries, branches, divisions, brands and affiliates across the world. Though it has two headquarters, the company is incorporated in the United States only. It has operations located across the globe in Africa, the Middle East, Eurasia, Asia, Europe, Australia & Oceania and Central America. It owns six brands under its umbrella, namely Landmark, Sperry Drilling, Baroid, Summit ESP, Pinnacle and Multi-Chem. Halliburton offers its products and services in six categories that it calls “challenges” such as clean energy, unconventional resources, heavy oil, mature fields, deep water and high pressure or temperature. The company has over 25 different capabilities from which it lets its customers select requisite products and services. Some of these capabilities are drill bits, subsea, cementing, stimulation, hole enlargement, sand control, well completion, coring, project management, fluid services, artificial lift, real time services, etc. The company started its journey as the New Method Oil Well Cementing Company in 1919. Within three years from that, the company renamed itself to Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company and bought off about 500 oil wells. Its earliest foreign ventures were in India and Burma in 1926, and it took the company almost 26 more years to expand into the European market. In 1957, it made its first significant purchase and acquired Welex following which it acquired Otis Engineering in 1959. It changed to its current name on 5th July 1961 and gave itself a new start. In the following years, it acquired Gearhart Industries in 1989 and merged with Dresser Industries in 1998. As of 2020, the company was an S&P 500 component trading under the ticker symbol HAL in the New York Stock Exchange. Over its century-long career, it has been awarded and recognised for its work in the field of employment, corporate affairs, technology and safety & service quality. Some of the most notable awards it won include the Global Wells Supplier of the Year Award in 2018, Ideal Employer Oil & Gas Companies Survey by Rigzone in 2019, Xaminer Magnetic Resonance (XMR) service by OTC awards in 2020. It is the 142nd company in the Fortune 500 2020 list and 1010th in the Forbes Global 2000 2020 list.;
