The company offers 33 categories of products like motors, pumps, electrical, plumbing, lighting, power transmission, fasteners, welding, hydraulics, security, lab supplies, hardware, etc. Grainger also provides nine different services, namely online services, lighting services, Grainger Global Export, facility Services, energy efficiency services, Grainger consulting services, footwear & eyewear benefits management, sustainability services and environmental, health & safety services. William Wallace Grainger established this company as a supplier for businesses in Chicago. Now the company serves industries like education, hospitality, safety, retail, management, property and a lot more from all around the globe. In 1967, W.W. Grainger went public and started trading in the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol GWW. As of 2020, it has become a component in the S&P 500 index. Over the years, the company has acquired numerous businesses to expand its own scope of operations. From 2009 to 2015, it has made nine significant acquisitions, including, Imperial Supplies, SafetyCertified, Anfreixo, Alliance Energy Solutions, Fabory Group, Cromwell Group Holdings, Tachni-tool, Inc., Safety Solution Incorporation and E&R Industrial Sales Inc. Several awarding entities have recognised Grainger for its excellent work in the business industry. It has been in the Fortune 500 list for over two decades, and as of 2020, it is the 278th company in it. It is also a part of the Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Company 2020 list. Forbes has also recognised the company in its Global 2000 list in 2020.;
