As of 2020, the company offers payments and software solutions to over 3.5 million businesses, including educational institutions, healthcare businesses, commercial markets as well as non-profit organisations. GPN operates through three major segments, namely Issuer Solutions, Merchant Solutions and Business and Consumer Solutions. The Issuer Solutions segment offers commercial payments and ePayables solutions for financial institutions and retailers. Its Merchant Solutions segment provides an array of enterprise software solutions, which help businesses streamline their operations. Business and Consumer Solutions segment is engaged in providing financial service solutions to the underbanked consumers and other businesses.
GPN has expanded its business operations through the acquisition of several companies. In 2012, the company bought-off Accelerated Payment Technologies for a purchase price of $413 million. It acquired Ezidebit, an Australian payment processing company, for $305 million in 2014. Another merger took place in 2015 when Global Payments Inc. acquired Payment Processing (PayPros) for $420 million. In a key acquisition in 2016, GPN bought-off Heartland Payments Systems in a $4.3 billion transaction. Global Payments Inc. announced a $21.5 billion merger with Total System Services, Inc. (TSYS) in 2019. Forbes included the company in its list of World’s Best Employers 2019.
In 2020, GPN was included in the Human Rights Campaign’s 2020 list of Best Places to Work. Global Payments Inc. ranked 859th on Forbes’ list of Global 2000 2020 companies.;
