About the Company

Genuine Parts Company is an American organization that engages in the distribution of industrial replacement parts, office products, electric and electronic materials as well as automotive replacement parts. It was founded in 1925 with the purchase of Motor Parts Depot in Atlanta, Georgia. The company was later renamed to Genuine Parts Company. Its corporate headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The company went public in 1948, and GPC stocks began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 1968. GPC shares are included as a component on the S&P 500 index. Over the years, Genuine Parts Company has continued to expand its business operations through several acquisitions in the automotive and industrial industries. In 1975, it bought-off S.P. Richards Company in its first acquisition. This was followed by a merger in 1976 when the company acquired Motion Industries. GPC purchased UAP & EIS in 1998 and AutoTodo in 1999. Genuine Parts Company bought-off Alliance Automotive Group & Inenco Group in 2017. As of 2020, Genuine Parts Company stands as a leading parts distributor across the globe with more than 3,600 operations in about 14 countries. Its largest division, Automotive Parts Group, distributes approximately 5,30,000 automotive replacement parts, service items and accessory items across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, France, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and North America. Industrial Parts Group, its other subsidiary, offers industrial replacement parts as well as related supplies and services throughout North America and Australasia. Genuine Parts Company also offers offshore product sourcing, vendor management, order processing, international logistics for all its subsidiaries through GPC Global Sourcing. The company sells parts under the brand name “NAPA” in North America. GPC operates under different banners in several countries, such as GROUPAUTO France in France, Repco in Australia and New Zealand, GROUPAUTO Polska in Poland and GROUPAUTO in UK and Ireland. In 2020, GPC ranked 171st on the list of Fortune 500 companies. It also ranked 853rd on Forbes’ list of Global 2000 companies. Forbes also included the company in its 2020 list of World’s Best Employers.;
