About the Company

Estee Lauder Companies Inc. famously known as Estee Lauder is a multinational marketer and manufacturer of skincare, haircare, fragrance and makeup products. Headquartered in New York City, it has operations in more than 150 countries and affiliates in over 50 countries and territories around the globe. As of 2020, it has over 1,500 free-standing stores and 1,700 e-commerce sites. It has operations in countries like India, South Africa, Australia, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Canada etc. Estee Lauder owns around 30 brands including M.A.C., Aveda, Darphin, Clinique, GLAMGLOW, DKNY, Bobbi Brown, Origins, Aramis, Smashbox, Too Faced, LE Labo, Dr. Jart+, Kiton, Bumble and bumble, Tommy Hilfiger, Lab Series, Tom Ford Beauty, AERIN Beauty, Jo Malone London etc. Under these brands, it sells products like shampoos, lipsticks, colognes, cleansers, powders, treatment, facial masks, styling products, perfumes, nail polish, creams, eyeshadow, etc. The company is the brainchild of Estee and Joseph Lauder, and they started with just four products in 1946. In 1953, it launched its first revolutionary product called the Estoderme which even impressed the then editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar. After almost a decade in 1962, it launched its first makeup collection, following which in 1963 it launched its first men’s fragrance under the brand name Aramis. It launched the Alligator Compact that had a 24-kt gold plated exterior, and as of 2020, there are over 1,700 different compacts in the company’s archive. During the 1960s, it launched the brand Clinique, moved its office, and introduced Estee fragrance. Over the next few decades, Estee Lauder introduced several new brands and line of products like nail polishes, perfumes and serums. Since 1992, it became an active advocate for breast cancer and the company behind the Pink Ribbon. During the1990s, it started operations in China, acquired M.A.C, partnered with Tommy Hilfiger and became public. On 17th November 1995, it started trading in the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol EL at a rate of $26 per share. Moving forward, till 2020, it had introduced a new fragrance brand AERIN Beauty and a makeup brand Smashbox. In the last two decades, its most significant acquisition was that of the makeup brand Bobbie Brown. It is a Fortune 500 company as well as one of Fortune’s Most Admired Companies. Estee Lauder is indexed as the S&P 500 component, and it is the 7th best place to work for women in 2020, according to Forbes.;
