Equifax Inc. is an Atlanta, Georgia based multinational consumer credit reporting agency and a part of the “Big Three”. It sells fraud prevention and credit monitoring services directly to its consumers, collects and aggregates information from over 88 million business and 800 million individuals worldwide. As of 2020, it has 11,200 employees and assets worth $7,909 million. It has multiple investments and operates in 24 countries across the Asia Pacific, America and Europe. The company provides its products and services under three segments - business, government and personal. Under ‘personal’, it offers individual consumers seven products and services like Equifax Credit Monitor, Equifax ID Patrol, Equifax Complete Family Plan, Equifax Core Credit, etc. To businesses, it offers about 59 solutions and 139 products like Collections and Recovery for Auto, Initialquote Score, Advanced Energy Plus, Mortgage Portfolio Optimization, Small Business Assets, Enhanced DTI, Fraudiq Synthetic ID Alerts, NCTUE Membership and Insights, SmartReserve, Prescreen Direct with Property, AML Compliance etc. Finally, it offers eight solutions and seven products under the “Government” section. There are solutions like Applicant Eligibility and Fraud, Unemployment Insurance (UI) Eligibility Services, Instant Client Insights for Eligibility, Equifax Breach Products, Program Integrity, etc. Some products under this segment are The Work Number Alert: Portfolio Monitoring, IRS Income Verification - 4506 -T Tax Transcripts, Account Verification, Fraudiq Authenticate, Social Service Income & Employment Verification, etc. In 1899, Equifax was founded by Guy and Cator Woolford in Atlanta as Retail Credit Company, and within 21 years it had operations across Canada and the US. For the next four decades, RCC kept expanding its resources and reach. In 1975, the company changed its name to Equifax. In 2010, it made a significant acquisition when it took over Anakam, Inc., a company that pioneered SMS two-factor authentication. Its other two important acquisitions include eThority in 2011 and Ansonia Credit Data in 2020. This S&P component company trades in the New York Stock Exchange under the trading symbol EFX.
