About the Company

Deere & Company is a corporation that manufactures heavy-duty machinery and equipment. Headquartered in Moline, Illinois this company operates under the brand name John Deere. As of 2020, it had about 73,489 employees working in its operations and experience centres. The company offers equipment and machinery under nine categories, including that of forestry, construction, agriculture, golf & sports turf, rental sales, engines & drivetrain, lawn & garden, forestry, landscaping & grounds care and government & military sales. It provides parts under three segments, namely, remanufactured parts, alternative parts and genuine parts for all its machinery and equipment. Further, the company sells used machinery and parts under forestry, lawn & grounds care, agriculture, gator & UTV’s and construction categories. Some of its products include 7-series row crop tractors, augers & trenchers, walk greens mowers, traditional gator utility vehicles, pull-type forage harvester heads, military gator utility vehicles, hay and forage harvesting equipment, interim tier-4/stage-III B industrial diesel engines, self-propelled forage harvesters, knuckle-boom loaders, etc. Deere & Company also offers an array of financial and other related services to its clients. The advent of John Deere was marked in 1837 when its founder, who shares the same name, invented a new type of steel plough – which instantly became popular among farmers. After over 80 years, it entered the tractor business and offered only two models of tractors at that time. By 1935, it started to produce tractors explicitly for industrial use, and with the beginning of the 1960s, completely changed its product line to what it offers now. As of 2020, it had 17 factories located in different parts of North America and 12 other vital factories located in countries like France, Germany, India, Finland etc. It also had 18 subsidiaries such as John Deere Financial, Hagie Sprayers, Waratah Forestry Attachments, John Deere Capital Corporation, Blue River Technology, Ningbo Benye Tractor & Automobile Manufacture Co. Ltd., Wirtgen Group etc. Among these, Wirtgen Group, one of the largest road building equipment manufacturers worldwide, was acquired by John Deere in 2017. It is the 84th company in the 2020 Fortune 500 list and a component in the S&P 500 index. It trades in the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol DE. The company was awarded one gold and three silver medals at Agritechnica 2019, one of the leading agricultural technology trade shows in the world. ;
