DuPont de Nemours, Inc., also referred to as DuPont, is an American company that manufactures pharmaceuticals and chemicals. DuPont was formed in September 2019 after Dow Chemical merged with EI duPont de Nemours and Company. According to sources, the merger was worth approximately $130 billion. Within 18 months, DowDupont split into 3 separate companies, dealing in agriculture, speciality products and materials science.
Corteva - the agricultural company- combines DuPont and Dow’s crop and seed protection units and generates annual revenue of approximately $16 billion. Whereas, the materials science business called Dow brings in an estimated annual revenue of over $50 billion.
In 1802, the DuPont was founded as a gunpowder mill. Presently, it is the largest manufacturer of science-based products and is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. The DuPont de Nemours, Inc. shares are traded on NYSE under the ticker DD.
DD is behind the invention of widely used materials like Lycra, Teflon, and Orlon. The company primarily engages in biotechnology and produces a wide range of products which include structural and elastic adhesive, elastomeric photopolymer printing plates and more. Moreover, it also offers animal nutrition, construction materials, water purification technologies and food ingredients. Some of DD’s popular brands include Kevlar, Nomex, Tyvek and Sorona.
Danisco, a Danish biotech company, was acquired by DD in 2011 for approximately $6.3 billion. It is famous for developing antioxidants and natural enzymes that are able to maximize the shelf life of food all across the world.
Moreover, Danisco is also one of the leading manufacturers of carrageenan and guar gum which are widely used to add texture to various dairy products. In 2019, DD acquired Desalitech, OxyMem Limited and two other companies, enhancing its already formidable portfolio of water purification technologies.
DuPont won twice for significant advancements in science and innovation at the R&D 100 Awards in 2019. Furthermore, in 2018, DD received the ContiTech Top Supplier Award for supplying products of the highest quality and ensuring efficient customer collaboration. In 2020, DuPont ranked 152nd on the list of Fortune 500 Companies.;
