The company came into being after spinning off from its parent company DowDuPont in mid-2019. Its parent company has a rich history that dates back to 1802 when E.I. Du Pont started a company under his name, with his first powered mill. After 95 years from that, the other half of DowDuPont, Dow Chemical Company, was founded by Electrochemical Pioneer H.H. Dow. Over the years, the two companies introduced iconic products like Saran Wrap, Lycra, Pioneer corn seeds, Kevlar, Ziploc, Lannate, Lorsban, etc.
In 1989, Dow entered its first joint venture with Eli Lilly and formed DowElanco. After a few more individual achievements, the two companies joined hands in 2015, forming DowDuPont, in which Corteva Agriscience was its agricultural division. Corteva entered the Fortune 500 list in 2020 and secured the 234th rank.
It entered the New York Stock Exchange under the trading symbol CTVA on 3rd June 2019 and, on the same day, became a component in the S&P 500 index.;
