About the Company

Founded in 1930, CenturyLink is a telecommunication company located in Monroe, Louisiana. On 16th September 2020, it changed its name to Lumen and had an employee base of about 42,500 individuals. It provides its services in over 60 countries across the world like Latin America, the Middle East etc. Lumen’s services include data integration, local and long-distance voice, MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching), network, information technology, Ethernet, broadband, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), etc. The company offers its services to small businesses, enterprises and residential spaces. The company offers communication solutions such as Adaptive Networking, Hybrid Cloud, Connected Security etc. It offers these solutions to eleven industries, including the public sector, energy, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, wholesale, financial services, retail, manufacturing, technology, media & entertainment and gaming network. CenturyLink had its origin in 1930 from Oak Ridge Telephone Company that F.E. Hogan sold it to William Clarke for $500. In 1947, Clarke McRae Williams bought the Marion Telephone Company and made it his base of operation. It served three US states with around 10,000 access lines in 1967, during which it got incorporated as Central Telephone and Electronics. By 1975, Clarke moved its headquarters from Marion to Monroe, Louisiana, and as of 2020, remains there. It underwent three more name changes between 1971 to 2019 - Century Telephone Enterprises, CenturyTel and CenturyLink, before finally becoming Lumen in 2020. CenturyLink joined the New York Stock Exchange on 24th October 1978 under the ticker symbol CTL. However, since 18th September 2020, it trades under the symbol LUMN as the company has changed its name. It is an S&P 500 component and entered the Fortune 500 list in 2010, and as of 2020, is the 143rd company under it. In its corporate career, Lumen has acquired several business and companies such as Streamroot in 2019, Edison in 2017, Level 3 Communications in 2016, DataGardens, Inc. in 2014, Tier 3 in 2013, Savvis, Inc. in 2011, Qwest in 2010, Delta Security Alarm Co., Inc. in 1997, etc.;
