Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, Capital One Financial Corporation is one of the largest banks in the USA, alongside being a bank holding company. As of 2020, it had a workforce of about 51,900 employees working in its 755 branches, including 30 café style locations. It is also one of the largest auto finance companies with a market share of 5%. The company issues credit cards in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, making it one of the largest credit card issuers in the world. It offers credit cards with four different types of reward programmes - travel rewards, credit building, cashback rewards and business rewards. It also offers Checking and Saving services like 360 Checking, 360 Performance Savings, 360 IRA CDs, MONEY Teen Checking, 360 IRA Savings, etc. Capital One offers solutions customised to fit its clients like commercial lending, capital markets, treasury management, corporate card and depository services. It possesses industry expertise in industries like healthcare, energy, commercial real estate, technology, media & telecommunication, etc. It has a range of business cards under its sub-brand, Spark, and offers auto loans as well. It has introduced a mobile app that allows users 24/7 access to their full card information, instant purchase notifications, hassle-free money transfer through its flagship called Zelle, deposit money, redeem and view rewards, etc. The company started its corporate journey as OakStone Financial, a subsidiary of Signet Financial Corp, on 21st July 1994. It was renamed to Capital One during October of the same year. From 1998 through 2019, it has made several acquisitions to expand its capabilities. Some of its significant acquisitions include Summit Acceptance Corporation in 1998, PeopleFirst Finance LLC in 2001, Onyx Acceptance Corporation and Hibernia National Bank in 2005, NetSpend in 2007, Chevy Chase Bank in 2009, the Healthcare Financial Services unit of General Electric in 2015, Paribus in 2016 and Confirm in 2018. As of 2020 it is a component in both the S&P 500 and the S&P 100 indexes and ranks 97 in the Fortune 500 list. It trades under the ticker symbol COF in the New York Stock Exchange, and COF share prices were at their highest ($106.76) on 22nd January 2020.;
