About the Company

CME Group Inc. or Chicago Mercantile Exchange is a Chicago, Illinois-based global markets company. It is known by several other names such as The Commodity Exchange, Chicago Board of Trade or New York Mercantile Exchange. CME, NYMEX, CBOT and COMEX are the four exchanges under which it operates. As of 2020, it is the largest financial derivatives exchange worldwide. The company conducts trading in two different formats; first is an open outcry method, and the other uses an electronic platform for the CME Global Trading System. It offers services under three categories, namely post-trade services, technology services and clearing services. It also provides clearing resources to aid its customers better understand how the company imparts its services. CME Group trades in asset classes like Energy, FX, Agriculture, Metals, Equity Index, Interest Rates and Options. Few of its featured products include Soybean (ZN), Euro FX (6E), Henry Hub Natural Gas (NG), Gold, (GC), E-mini S&P 500 (ES), SOFR (SR), Corn (ZC), Copper (HG), Eurodollar (GE), etc. CME also offers courses and lessons for its consumers to better understand the use and importance of financial derivatives exchange in their respective businesses. Apart from its headquarter in Chicago, Illinois, it has operations spread across New York, Houston, Seoul, Australia, Tokyo, Bangalore, Belfast, São Paulo, London, etc. Its clientele, however, hails from more than 100 countries worldwide. It was founded in 1884 and till 2020 had acquired and merged with several businesses and companies to expand its global footprint. Some of its notable mergers and acquisitions include that of Chicago Board of Trade in 2007, New York Mercantile Exchange in 2008, Kansas City Board of Trade in 2012 and NEX Group in 2018. CME also has 27% ownership of S&P Dow Jones Indices since 2013. It is a component in the S&P 500 list and trades in the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol of CME. Over the years, the company has been awarded for its work environment as well as performance in its respective field by several notable organisations. In the 2019 Risk Awards, it was bestowed three accolades, namely, Exchange of the Year, Exchange Innovation of the Year and Clearing House of the Year. The same year it secured a place in the list of America’s Best Mid-Size Employer by Forbes.;
