Comcast Corporation is a telecommunication conglomerate based in Pennsylvania, United States. Incorporated in 1963, Comcast Corp stood as the third-largest media company worldwide in 2020, with a $210 billion market cap. Comcast shares trade on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange as CMCSA. CMCSA stocks are listed under several market indexes, namely NASDAQ 100, S&P 100 and S&P 500. The company’s business operates through six segments - cable communications, cable networks, filmed entertainment, broadcast television, theme parks and the Sky Group. Sky is one of Europe’s leading media and entertainment companies, as of 2020. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary called NBC Universal, Comcast owns Universal Studios, one of Hollywood’s “Big Six” film studios, as well as Universal Parks & Resorts. The company owns Xfinity Mobile, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) of Verizon, the leading consumer wireless company of the US. Comcast also owns several major national television-broadcasting companies, including NBC, Cozi TV and Telemundo; and television channels like CNBC, MSNBC, USA Network, NBCSN, among others. Leading animation studios like DreamWorks Animation, Universal Animation Studios, and Illumination operate as its subsidiaries. In 2001, Comcast Corporation merged with AT&T networks in a $72 billion transaction. Its latest acquisition took place in 2020 when it bought-off Xumo, a free online streaming service for an undisclosed amount. As education was one of the worst-hit sectors during the 2019 pandemic, Comcast invested $650 million to support digital literacy. Its Internet Essential services connected over 8 million students to online learning. It also launched the Comcast Rise, an initiative to help small businesses affected by Covid-19. In 2020, Forbes recognised the company as one of America’s Best Employers by State, Best Employers for Women, Best Employers for Diversity as well as Just Companies 2021. It is a Fortune 500 company, ranking at 28th. It also ranked 27th on Forbes’ list of Global 2000 2020.;
