The company was incorporated in 1984 as MPK Computing. It later changed its name to Computer Discount Warehouse, and then simply to CDW. In 2007, CDW was acquired by Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC for a purchase price of approximately $7.3 billion. It again went public in 2013, under the name CDW Corporation. Over the years, the company has continued its business expansion through acquisitions. In a major acquisition, CDW purchased Micro Warehouse, the leading reseller of IT products and services to businesses in the UK. CDW acquired Berbee Information Networks Corporation, one of the country’s largest privately-held IT solutions providers, for $184 million in 2006. CDW was ranked 178th on the list of Fortune 500 companies in 2020, while Forbes ranked it 827th on its list of Global 2000 2020.
