About the Company
Carnival Corporation & PLC is the world’s largest travel cruiser company. Its clientele consists of travellers around the world. It was founded in 1972 as Carnival Cruise Line, which is now its flagship cruise line subsidiary. Carnival Cruise Line changed its name to Carnival Corporation in 1993. In 2003, it acquired the P&O Princess Cruises PLC, Britain’s biggest cruise operator at that time, in a £3.5bn takeover. Operations of these two entities merged into one company as Carnival PLC.
As of 2020, Carnival Corporation and Carnival PLC jointly own all their operating companies. Its diverse portfolio includes numerous global cruise line brands, namely Carnival Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Carnival Cruise Shipping, Costa Cruises, AIDA Cruises, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises and several others. Jointly, these brands comprise a cruise ship fleet of 100 ships that operate across 700 ports worldwide. It has also been the owner of several notable ships in the past like Queen Elizabeth 2, Pacific Princess, Adonia, Oriana, Rotterdam and the Costa Concordia.
Carnival Corporation is headquartered in Florida, US, while its UK entity - Carnival PLC is based in Southampton, UK. In 2013, the company established its Asia headquarters in Singapore and expanded its business operations across the continent. Carnival Corporation shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as well as the London Stock Exchange under a ticker symbol of CCL. It is included as a component on the S&P 500 and the FTSE 250 indices. In 2020, Forbes recognised the company as one of the Best Employers for Women and Best Employers for Diversity. It also ranked 468th on Forbes list of Global 2000 companies. It gathered a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index.;
