As of the same year, it had over 40,000 working towers, 70,000 small cells and about 80,000 route miles of its fibre.
It offers communication infrastructure solutions of three types, including Added Fiber solutions, Wireless solutions and Fiber solutions. Under ‘Wireless solutions’ it provides small cells and towers, whereas, under ‘Added Fiber solutions’ there are DDOS Defence, Cloud Connect, Ultra-Low Latency, Optical Encryption, Video Transport and Managed Security. In Fibre solutions, it offers Ethernet, Private Networks, Dark Fiber, Colocation, Managed SD-WAN, Wavelength and Internet Access.
Crown Castle has industry expertise in transforming public infrastructure, building industrial networks, scaling networks nationwide, enhancing visitor experience and accelerating network connections. Under these five categories, it offers financial services, professional services, public safety, etc.
In 1994, it began only with 133 cell towers that increased to 14,000 within four years. In 1998 it also went public and started trading in the NASDAQ stock exchange, and by 2000 it expanded its reach to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. In 2001, it transferred from NASDAQ to the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CCI.
The company became a REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) in 2014 with a portfolio of 40,000 towers. In 2020, it joined the Fortune 500 list and was also integrated as an S&P 500 component in the same year. Among its acquisitions, the most significant ones are Global Signal Inc. in 2007, NewPath Networks in 2010, NextG Networks in 2011, Sunesys in 2015, NextEra Energy’s FPL FiberNet in 2016 and Lightower, its biggest acquisition ever in 2017. ;
