About the Company

The Boeing Company is one of the world’s greatest aerospace manufacturers that have been in this industry since the beginning of the 20th century. It officially started to build an aeroplane, Boeing’s Model 1 seaplane, also known as B&W, in January 1916. B&W took its first flight in mid-June of the same year, marking the advent of Boeing Company. The company was one of the active participants in World War I and provided 50 Model Cs seaplanes to the US navy. It then signed a contract with the US navy to build more military aircrafts. Over the next few decades, it started to manufacture torpedo bombers, fighter planes, and commercial aircrafts. Since the beginning of the 1930s, it has kept working towards its aim of innovating the aerospace industry and has produced new models of military aircraft and commercial aeroplanes. Over the decades it has also actively participated in the process of various space expeditions and partnered with NASA to build spacecrafts. Boeing also created the first helicopter that could fly without a tail rotor at the beginning of the 1980s. As of 2020, it is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with a workforce of more than 161,000 employees worldwide. It produces rotorcraft, telecommunication equipment, aeroplanes, missiles, satellites and rockets for customers around the globe. Boeing has three main divisions, Boeing Global Services, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) and Boeing Defence, Space & Security (BDS). It provides Boeing Global Services in two sub-divisions, government and commercial service. Similarly, under BCA there are nine types of aeroplanes on offer, including Boeing 777, Boeing 747-8 and Boeing Business Jets. BDS offers space rockets, satellites, fighter jets, military helicopters etc. such as AH-64 Apache, C-40 Clipper, Air Force One, X-37B, Boeing Satellite Family, etc. The company has operations in more than 300 locations across over 70 countries around the globe. It has its operations located in over 40 US states offering services under Digital Solutions & Analytics, Training & Professional Services, Engineering, Modification & Maintenance. Innovation is a big part of this corporation. It invests a substantial part of its revenue towards research and development purposes. Some of its most recent innovations are the launch of Boeing HorizonX and Boeing AnalytX. It has also achieved great heights in terms of innovative aircraft like the first flights of 787-10, T-X and 727 MAX 9. Boeing is a part of S&P 100, S&P 500 as well as DJIA components as of 2020. In 2019 it ranked 40th in the Fortune 500 list and 121st on the Fortune Global 500 list in the year 2020. It is listed in the New York Stock Market under BA as its ticker symbol.;
