Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) is a global supplier of semiconductor and infrastructure software products. Headquartered in San Jose, California, United States, the company has emerged as an international leader in infrastructure technology. It traces its roots to the rich heritage of Hewlett-Packard (HP), Agilent Technologies, AT&T and Bell Labs.
In 2005, Agilent Technologies was acquired in a $2.66 billion transaction, which formed Avago Technologies. It began operations as the largest privately-held semiconductor company in the world. The company filed an initial public offering of $400 million in 2008. In 2009, it went public on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol of “AVGO”. Avago Technologies acquired the Broadcom division of Broadcom Corporation in January 2016. Following this acquisition, the ticker symbol AVGO, which earlier represented Avago Technologies, now began representing Broadcom Inc. stock.

It offers optical products, mainframe software, enterprise software, storage adapters, controllers, ICs, wireless components, security solutions, and a lot more. In 2019, AVGO received the Most Respected Public Semiconductor Company award by GSA (Global Semiconductor Alliance), in the category of greater than $5billion annual sales. It was recognised by the Customer Relationship Management Institute for its excellence in customer services in 2020. As of 2020, Broadcom, Inc. stood at the 138th rank on the list of Fortune 500 companies in the world. It ranked 192nd on Forbes Global 2000.
