Activision Blizzard, Inc. is a video game holding company headquartered in Santa Monica, California, US. It was established in 2008, following a merger of Activision, Inc. and Vivendi Games in a $19 billion deal. Activision Blizzard shares trade on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol “ATVI”. It is a component of the NASDAQ-100 as well as the S&P-500 index. As of 2020, Activision Blizzard, Inc. is one of the most eminent video games designing companies in the world. The company is best known for its iconic video games such as Call of Duty, Candy Crush Saga, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, and several others. Its Call of Duty and StarCraft franchises are popular games in e-sports. The company operates through three key business segments - Blizzard Entertainment, King and Activision Publishing. In 2015, ATVI launched its e-sports division called Activision Blizzard Media Networks. In 2016, Activision Blizzard Media Networks reported record e-sports viewership of 45 million hours watch-time of live broadcasts. It also set a new record of 1.6 million concurrent viewership. On October 25th 2019, the company released an instalment to its Call of Duty series called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In the first three days of its launch, the game had record-breaking worldwide sales of more than $600 million. The company ranked 453rd among the Fortune 500 companies and 662nd on Forbes’ Global 2000 in 2020. ATVI partnered with Girls Who Code (GWC), a non-profit educational organisation, for the third consecutive year, intending to close the gender gap in technology. It was also included in the Human Rights Commission’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index. The company donated $2 million to Call of Duty Endowment, its non-profit foundation that aims to create employment opportunities for veterans in the UK and US. Since its inception in November 2009, this foundation has placed 77,265 veterans in civilian jobs, as on November 12th, 2020.;
