About the Company
Arconic is a relatively new American company founded on 1st April 2020 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It specialises in manufacturing and engineering lightweight metals and offers a vast range of aluminium plates, sheets and extruded products.
Though the company was founded in 2020, its origin dates back to 1886 when Charles Martin hall invented the modern process of Aluminium extraction. He would then incorporate Pittsburgh Reduction Company in 1888, later renamed Alcoa in 1999.
Since then Alcoa would manufacture lightweight aluminium sheets for automotive frameworks, aerospace contractions, military equipment and more. In 1928, the company pioneered energy-efficient windows and created the first aluminium wheels in 1955. It also supplied powdered aluminium fuel and components to space shuttles at the beginning of 1981.
Between 1994 and 2020 Alcoa developed the first-ever all- aluminium automobile together with Audi, partnered with Yutong Bus to test environment-friendly bus during Beijing Olympics, got selected by Boeing to provide the first large-aluminium-lithium plate application, became North America’s leading provider of advanced aluminium sheets.
In 2016, Alcoa launched its standalone company called Alcoa Corp that saw over its alumina, bauxite and aluminium operations. By early-2020 it separated into two standalone companies - Howmet Aerospace and Arconic, Inc. It is because of Alcoa’s rich history that Arconic has become a leading aluminium sheet provider within a short period.
The company offers its products to automotive, building and construction, aerospace, oil and gas, packaging, defence, commercial transport, industrial applications and consumer electronics industries around the globe.
Arconic is listed under both the S & P 600 Component as well as the Russell 1000 Index component and trades in the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ARNC. On 13th November 2020, ARNC share prices reached their highest, that is $28.36.
As of December 2019, the company held a workforce of more than 15,000 employees and had created a foundation called Arconic Foundation that partners with non-profit organisations to provide education, environmental sustainability and social equity to the less fortunate.;
