Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland Aptiv Plc is a registered American-British automotive company. It started its journey as Automotive Components group in 1994 and changed its name to Delphi Automotive Systems within a year.
As of 2020, the company has more than 160,000 people working for it in countries like India, South Korea, China, the United States, etc. It has 126 manufacturing facilities and 12 technical centers spread across 44 countries around the world. It is one of the leading integrators of software and systems technologies in mobility.
In 2015, it helped in the completion of the longest automated vehicle drive that started from San Francisco and ended in New York City. Ninety-nine percent of this 3,400-mile drive was automated with the aid of the technology provided by Aptiv. The same year it acquired one of the Carnegie Mellon University’s spinoff company called Ottomatika and bought HellermannTyton for $1.7 billion.
In June 2016, it partnered with Carbon and utilised its Continuous Liquid Interface Production technology and printers. In January 2017, Movimento, a company specialising in seamless, secure over-the-air software updates, was also acquired by it. In October, the company acquired a start-up called NuTonomy for $450 million, and by the end of 2017, it changed its name to Aptiv.
In May 2018, it launched 30 autonomous vehicles on the Lyft network in Las Vegas. As of 2020, Aptiv autonomous drive has entered into a joint venture with Hyundai Motor Group with the aim to develop and commercialise the safest and highest performing autonomous vehicles.
It is an S&P 500 indexed company listed under the symbol APTV in the New York Stock Exchange. APTV share prices touched historical heights in its trading tenure on November 11th, 2020, when it reached $111.03.
The company provides end-to-end solutions to customers regarding Connection Systems, Connected Services, Autonomous Mobility, Winchester Interconnect, Advanced Safety, Connectivity and Security, E-Mobility, Smart Vehicle Architecture, Commercial Vehicles, HellermannTyton, User Experience, and Electrical Distribution System.
In 1999 it established Aptive Foundation, Inc, a non-profit philanthropic branch that supports and connects minorities, women, and diverse groups. It mainly aids them by providing education, covering STEM subjects, and other non-profit events.;
