About the Company

A.O. Smith Corporation is a Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based company that manufactures water boilers, tanks, heaters, and other water treatment products for both residential and commercial use. It is the largest marketer and manufacturer of water heating products in North America, and as of 2018, had operations in 21 locations around the world. It is a global leader in its respective industry and had around 16,300 employees worldwide as of 2018. Its products are sold under some of the best brand names in the North American, Indian, and Chinese markets. Some of its brand names are American Water Heaters, Aquasana, John Wood, Takagi, Reliance, Evolve, Water Care, GSW, etc. The company was established in 1874 as a small business for hardware specialties in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Soon it started to supply metal components for bicycles and baby carriages, and by 1899 began to develop lightweight steel car frames. It was in 1936 that A.O. Smith started to glass line a residential water heater tank. It quickly became popular in the market, and in 1974 marketed the Conservationist line of residential water heaters. It launched its first-ever residual water heater in the year 1976 and has focused on the water heating industry ever since. In 2001 its water heater’s business started to pace up, and the company also started to pay more attention to water heating related products. Slowly it entered into other aspects of water treatments, and since 2016 has dedicated its entire attention towards water technology. In 1983, it entered the New York Stock Exchange under the Symbol AOS and got indexed into the S&P 500 on 17th August 2017. The AOS share prices reached their highest on 26th January 2018, touching $67.84. A.O. Smith has acquired several significant companies between 1940 and 2016. In due course, the year 2001 especially stands out as the company acquired a significant number of companies like State Industries Inc., The American Water Heater Company, Takagi Industry Company, GSW Inc. and The Changheng Group, etc.;
