About the Company

Micron Technology, Inc., is an American enterprise engaged in the production of computer data storage and memory devices. The company was established in 1978 with its headquarters in Boise, Idaho, United States. Micron Technology went public in 1984, and its shares began trading on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol of MU. MU shares are also included on the stock market indices of S&P 500 as well as NASDAQ 100. The company’s product line is segmented into Memory, Storage and Advanced Solutions. Some of its products are memory cards, NAND Flash, NOR Flash, DRAM, SSDs, and multi chip packages (MCPs). Its products are utilised in IoT gateways and edge servers, industrial automation, logistics and transportation, healthcare, surveillance, retail and M2M, as well as aerospace and defence. Micron Technology, Inc., also equips modern devices, such as gaming consoles, set-top boxes, laptops, desktops, wearables, and digital cameras, with its range of memory and storage solutions. It also introduced the world’s smallest 256K DRAM product in 1984. In 1994, MU joined the list of Fortune 500 companies, where it ranked 402nd. In 1998, it acquired Texas Instrument Inc.’s memory business and emerged as one of the world’s largest memory producers at the time. The company entered into a joint venture with Intel in 2005 and formed IM Flash Technologies. MU made another acquisition in 2006 and purchased Lexar Media in an all-stock transaction of approximately $688 million. In 2010, it acquired Numonyx Holdings B.V. for $1.27 in stocks. Another major merger followed in 2012 when Micron Technologies bought-off Elpida Memory and Rexchip Electronics Corporation for $2.5 billion and $2.5 billion, respectively. This trail of acquisitions continued in subsequent years, and MU acquired Pico Computing, Tidal Systems and Convey Computer in 2015, as well as Inotera Memories in 2016. As of 2021, Micron Technology’s latest acquisitions took place in 2019 when it bought-off FWDNXT and IM Flash Technologies, LCC.;
