About the Company
The IShares Core S&P 500 ETF is one of the most affordable alternatives for well-diversified, low-turnover, low-cost exposure to large-cap companies in the United States. It replicates the performance of the S&P 500, a market-cap-weighted portfolio indicative of the large-blend Morningstar Category, with high accuracy. Its ultra-low expense ratio offers the fund a long-term performance advantage over its category counterparts. The S&P 500 is a market-cap-weighted index, and it uses the collective knowledge of the market in order to capture the opportunity set in the large-cap sector in the United States. Index components must be profitable and highly liquid in order to meet S&P's index eligibility requirements. While the majority of large-cap names are financially sustainable, the criterion guarantees that infrequent outliers are excluded from the index, improving the portfolio's risk profile. An index committee chooses the index constituents, which account for around 80% of the entire market capitalization of the US equities market. While the committee-based method lacks transparency, it allows for greater flexibility in reconstitution and can avoid needless index adjustments. When compared to more strictly rules-based indexes, this reduces transaction costs.;
