Established in 1973, Everest Re Group Ltd. was first founded as Prudential Reinsurance. This company was a subsidiary of Prudential Financial. The company had decided to separate itself from Prudential Reinsurance in the 1990s. It went on to complete its IPO on October 6, 1995, and was renamed by the then CEO Joseph V. Taranto, from Prudential reinsurance to Everest Re in 1996. This name came from the tallest peak in the world, Mount Everest. This company is known to provide reinsurance and insurance to an international set of customers. This company's different products include professional liability, property, worker's compensation, and accident insurance. As of 2016, 70% of the company's premium comes from reinsurance, and the remainder comes from general insurance. This company's property insurance generates around 61% premium while the remaining amount comes from reinsurance and casualty insurance. The company acquires its premium against insurance from different countries around the world. 52% of premiums come from the United States, 15% comes from Latin America, and 17% comes from Europe and the rest from other corners of the world. This company sells catastrophe bonds to investors through its various subsidiaries, including Kilimanjaro Re and Mt. Logan Re. Everest Re's clients are C-level executives at Global 1000 companies, service providers, businesses, IT, private equity firms that seek to drive complex business transformations, adapt disruptive business models, and adopt emerging technologies—top management consulting firms such as McKinsey and Company, Booz and Company and Boston Consulting Group. The firm offers an entrepreneurial yet collaborative environment for employees. It ranked at 939 in the Fortune 1000 list of companies in 2020. The company was ranked at 93 in the list of World's Best Employers 2019 and at 896 in the Global 2000 list of companies in 2020. Everest Re Group currently has a workforce of 1100 employees. This company has five offices in 4 locations across the world. This includes major countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium and Bermuda. Everest Re Group Ltd. has its shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol "RE.";
