As per the recent NSE circular (dated October 4, 2024), when you sell shares from your Demat holdings, 100% of the sale value will be available for further trading in Stocks and Futures & Options (FnO) segments within 30 minutes. You can now use the entire amount without the earlier requirement of 20% margin deduction.
Example:
- Before the change: If you sold shares worth ₹1,00,000, only ₹80,000 was available for immediate trading.
- After the change: The full ₹1,00,000 will be available for trading within 30 minutes.
What remains the same? The BTST (Buy Today, Sell Tomorrow) rule has not changed. If you sell T1 holdings (shares not settled in your Demat), the sale value will be blocked until the end of the day. You can use or withdraw the amount on the next trading day.
Funds Withdrawal: You can withdraw the full sale value after 10 AM on the next trading day (T+1 day).
