What are option chains?

An option chain, also known as option matrix, is a list of all the option contracts available for a given security. It shows all listed puts, calls, expiry dates, strike prices, and volume and pricing information for a single underlying asset and within a given maturity period. Option chains are categorized by expiry date and segmented as calls and puts.
