What will happen if the stock I have has an open position but does not have buyers or sellers?
If there are no buyers or sellers for your intraday stock with an open position, the following may happen:
For Open Sell Positions:
- Auction Process: If you can’t sell due to a lack of buyers, the stock may enter an auction to find potential buyers. Settlement for this auction typically completes on the T+2 day (two trading days after the transaction date).
- Funds on Hold: Until the auction concludes, the amount equivalent to your intended sale will be held in your Groww Balance to cover the transaction value.
For Open Buy Positions:
- Temporary Delivery: If sellers are unavailable, the stock might be temporarily delivered to your account. Groww will check if your Groww Balance has enough funds to cover the purchase.
- Insufficient Funds: If funds are insufficient by the next trading day (T+1), Groww may sell the stock on your behalf as a risk measure, or you can choose to sell it yourself on the following trading day.
Note: Auction penalties up to 20% above the T+1 closing price may apply if a sell position enters the auction.
