What are DP charges (depository participant charges)?

DP (Depository Participant) charges are mandatory fees applicable to every sell transaction in your Demat account. These charges are only applied when you sell stocks, not when you buy them. They are levied by the depository (CDSL) and also include additional fees charged by Groww for facilitating the transaction. DP charges cover the cost of holding and transferring securities in electronic form.

Breakdown of Charges:
  1. Depository Charges:
    • ₹3.5 per script debit per day.
    • ₹3.25 per script debit per day for women.
  2. Groww Charges: ₹15 per script debit per day. However, if the debit value is below ₹100, Groww doesn't charge anything.
  3. GST: An 18% GST applies to the total of Depository and Groww charges.
Final Cost:
  • ₹21.83 per scrip per day.
  • ₹21.54 per scrip per day for women.
Note:
  • Applicable to all sell transactions (shares or ETFs).
  • A flat fee per scrip per trading day, regardless of the number of shares sold.
  • DP charges can be viewed under 'Groww Balance' → 'All Transactions', but they do not appear on the contract note.
