How to change name on Groww?

Name change Modification as per the CDSL regulations.

1. Minor Corrections in Name

Minor corrections are permitted under the following circumstances:

• Expansion of initials; (e.g., R. S. Shah to Rama Sunder Shah)

• Addition of middle name; (e.g., Paresh Patil to Paresh Dashrath Patil)

• Abbreviation to initials; and (e.g., Rama Siva Sharma to R. S. Sharma)

• Correction of spelling mistakes. (e.g., Sridhr Srinivasarao to Sridhar Srinivasarao)

Forms Required:

• KRA/KYC and BO Modification Form

• Minor Correction Form

Supporting Documents:

• Self-attested PAN copy

• Any one Officially valid document (OVD) with corrected name:

  • Passport

  • Driving License

  • Voter’s Identity Card

  • NREGA Job Card

  • Letter issued by National Population Register

  • Proof of possession of Aadhaar

2. Change in Name due to Marriage or Divorce:

Forms Required:

• KRA/KYC and BO Modification Form

• Name Confirmation Form

Supporting Documents:

• Self-attested PAN copy

• Any one of the following:

  • Copy of Marriage certificate, or

  • Copy of passport showing husband’s name, or

  • Publication of name change in official gazette (refer point no.4 for clients residing in Karnataka or Punjab); or

  • Copy of Divorce certificate

• Any one Officially valid document (OVD) with corrected name:

  • Passport

  • Driving License

  • Voter’s Identity Card

  • NREGA Job Card

  • Letter issued by National Population Register

  • Proof of possession of Aadhaar

3. Change in for any other reasons other than marriage (Example: change in father’s name, removal of middle name/last name, personal reasons):

Forms Required:

• KRA/KYC and BO Modification Form

• Name Confirmation Form

Supporting Documents:

• Self-attested PAN copy

• Publication of name change in official gazette (refer point no.4 for clients residing in Karnataka or Punjab)

• Any one Officially valid document (OVD) with corrected name:

  • Passport

  • Driving License

  • Voter’s Identity Card

  • NREGA Job Card

  • Letter issued by National Population Register

  • Proof of possession of Aadhaar

4. Change of name of an individual (other than government employees) residing in state of Karnataka or Punjab (other than marriage/divorce):

Forms Required:

• KRA/KYC and BO Modification Form

• Name Confirmation Form

Supporting Documents:

• Sworn affidavit executed before the Notary Public/ Magistrate of First Class/ Executive Magistrate mentioning the reason for change of name and his complete address

• Paper publication in one local newspaper and one national newspaper

• Any one Officially valid document (OVD) with corrected name:

  • Passport

  • Driving License

  • Voter’s Identity Card

  • NREGA Job Card

  • Letter issued by National Population Register

  • Proof of possession of Aadhaar

Note:

• A recent photograph and signature are mandatory in the KRA/KYC Form.

• The signature must match the records available with CDSL.
